My name is Rayden Chia, and before you even ask – yes, I have played Mortal Kombat as a kid. I am an Information Security professional currently residing in the US, and this year in the month of April 2020, I celebrated a decade in the security community.
When I was 10, I wanted more time on the family computer (dang it, parental controls!), and I soon stumbled onto the world of shellcoding and local privilege escalation exploits on Windows 95. What started out as a playful endeavor has bloomed over the years into a serious passion – information security. As I grew up, I realized that I really enjoyed taking things apart, tinkering with them and understanding how they work. The nature of the work in security is undoubtedly fast-paced, and the challenge of keeping up with it also keeps my passion for this field burning.
